University of Phoenix College of Social Sciences offers undergraduate and graduate programs in psychology, human services and counseling designed to help students acquire a deeper understanding of human behavior and prepare them to become social heroes in their communities. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, social science careers are expected to grow up to 29 percent between 2012 and 2022. The College of Social Sciences prepares for these opportunities with a combination of firsthand knowledge and career-relevant coursework. Our curriculum is developed based on industry standards to ensure the coursework aligns with employer needs. We work directly with the American Counseling Association (ACA), National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and National Organization for Human Services (NOHS) to ensure that our programs fill skills gaps in social science professions.
As a faculty member you’ll be challenged with adding your professional expertise to instruct a curriculum which is centrally developed with specific learning objectives.
Provide timely and detailed feedback on a weekly basis and offer student support via classroom, phone, and email.
Utilize classroom learning system technology (provided by university), the Internet, and Microsoft Office software.
Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
MUST meet one of the numbered pathways below, as well as any applicable clarifications stated, (including education, area of study and previous work experience, including minimum number of years and types of experience):
(1) Master's degree or higher in Psychology, School Psychology, Educational Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Counseling, and/or Social Work, and 9 graduate credit hours in Learning, Cognition, Memory, Emotional Intelligence, and/or Cognitive Psychology ,and a minimum of 3 years of applicable professional experience, some of which must have been within the last 7 years.
Clarification: Faculty who qualify with a doctorate degree in the area/s or a related area (above) can meet applicable professional experience using any combination of: (a) Post-secondary teaching of comparable courses, (b) Practitioner experience, and/or (c) Substantive documented research or scholarship experience in the area current within the last 5 years.
(2) Master's degree or higher and 18 graduate credits in psychology, School Psychology, Educational Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Counseling, and/or Social Work, to include a minimum of 9 graduate credit hours found in any combination of Learning, Cognition, Memory, Emotional Intelligence, and/or Cognitive Psychology, and 3 years of applicable professional experience, some of which must have been within the last 7 years.
Degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.
Acceptable professional positions/professional responsibilities can include but are not limited to: Application of psychological principles of learning and cognition in a clinical setting, and/or documented experience related the tenets of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; application of theories of perception, attention, memory, and language acquisition; and/or professional experience related to the process of encoding and decoding information.
Post-secondary teaching of comparable courses is considered applicable professional experience in all cases.
