Our Total Joint Replacement Center of Excellence is the first of its kind in the central valley to earn the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission. The dedicated orthopedic unit is designed to care for this patient population and help them return to an optimal level of functional mobility after surgery. Nurses, physical therapists, and other support staff assist patients and their families to navigate through the continuum of care.
5 West is a 25-bed orthopedic unit located on the west wing of the 10-story hospital building at Community Regional Medical Center. The 5 West environment is clean and quiet which helps to support the patient's healing process. The 5 West staff excel in providing patient centered care as shown from our high patient satisfaction scores. The unit has a nurse educator an Orthopedic Coordinator to ensure staff competencies are up to date and evidence-based practices are in place. This team works closely with the innovation and performance improvement team to integrate new technology into the workflow to enhance the patient experience and improve overall efficiency.
In this role you will work closely with our Orthopedic and Spine surgeons that are highly trained, board certified, and dedicated to managing and treating orthopedic and spine related diseases and conditions.
You and your team members will develop and enhance significant specialized skills that can best be honed in a specialized team like ours. Your duties as an orthopedic nurse will include participating in daily care coordination rounds, implementing the plan of care, administering medications, wound care, cardiac monitoring, educating patients and their families on steps to manage pain, how to avoid post-surgical infections, and achieve the best possible outcomes.
Minimum requirements include; Graduation from an accredited registered nursing program. Current RN license for the state of California, BLS
Completion of Basic Arrhythmia training preferred
ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire
Orthopedic Nurse Certification preferred.

- Desire to work closely with skilled surgeons, other physicians, nurses and support staff in all areas of speciality, including trauma cases
