The Program

The California High-Speed Rail program is the first ever high-speed rail system in the U.S. It will connect the mega-regions of the state, contribute to economic development and a cleaner environment, create jobs and preserve agricultural and protected lands. By 2029, the system will run from San Francisco to the Los Angeles basin in under three hours at speeds of more than 200 miles per hour. The system will also extend to Sacramento and San Diego, totaling 800 miles with up to 24 stations.

The Role

We have an immediate opportunity in our Fresno, CA Program Office for a Railroad Coordination Engineer, responsible for performing, technical, administrative and engineering-related duties in support of the Infrastructure Delivery and Rail Operations and Delivery teams, reporting to the Railroad Coordination Team. The principal duties of the Railroad Coordination Engineer are as follows:

  • Prepare technical and administrative writing assignments and reports within multiple disciplines including Engineering, Construction, Right-of-Way, and Railroad Coordination for review and approval by a discipline expert

  • Prepare weekly scheduling and flagging matrices (Burlington Northern Santa Fe, Union Pacific Rail Road and San Joaquin Valley Rail Road), review data for accuracy and ensures timely completion

  • Research Delivery and Program-related questions and issues to provide data to Regional Management for resolution

  • Create spreadsheets and pivot tables to input, analyze and present data

  • Prepare presentations on multi-disciplinary topics

  • Provide assistance with project scheduling, invoicing and engineering specifications

  • Execute a wide variety of general administrative duties supporting the CHSR Program, Infrastructure Delivery, and Rail Operations and Delivery teams

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Job Requirements

The Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, E.I.T. preferred

  • At least five years of experience, preferably in an engineering environment

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as a team

  • Valid California Driver’s License

  • Local candidates preferred

  • Employment authorization to work in the United States immediately
