This position is located in the Hearing Conservation Department, Naval Branch Hospital, Lemoore, CA. The purpose of the position is to manage and provide oversight for local Hearing Conservation Programs and hearing loss prevention efforts.

A typical day in the life of an Audiologist at the Naval Hospital Lemoore:

  • Provide oversight, management, and implementation of the Hearing Conservation Program (HCP).

  • Provide data and reports to HCP compliance, Significant Threshold Shift (STS) rates, and other pertinent program metrics.

  • Serve as subject matter expert and advisor on matters concerning occupational hearing conservation

  • Work collaboratively with line command leaders/Safety Managers, medical command Allied Health professionals and noise-exposed employees to improve programs.

  • Provide outreach prevention services and consultative support to local fleet and shore commands.

  • Perform administrative, managerial and educational assist visits.

  • Conduct a variety of hearing conservation training lectures and trains the trainer on various hearing loss prevention topics.

  • Conduct the training and certification of hearing conservation and audiometric technicians.

Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirement of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must have successfully completed a master's degree in Audiology or Doctor of Audiology (Ph.D or Au.D) degree that included 18 semester hours in the field of Audiology with approved clinical practice.

In addition to the Basic Requirement for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes: Examples of experience includes experience as a professional Audiologist managing and providing oversight for hearing conservation programs; diagnosing and providing therapy for a variety of hearing disorders; conducting technical surveys, program reviews, evaluations, and consultations dealing with occupational hearing loss, hearing protection, hearing conservation, and environmental noise control; providing audiometric testing, evaluation and remedial services; conducting a variety of training lectures.

Applicants must also possess the following Selective Placement Factors. Applicants not possessing these Selective Placement Factors will be found ineligible for this position:

  • License: Applicants must possess a current, active, valid Audiologist license awarded by any state. Please make sure your resume specifies the state which awarded your license, and most recent date it was awarded. AND

  • Board certification through either a Certificate of Clinical Competence (Audiology) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA-CCCA), or certification through the American Board of Audiology.

Additional Requirements:

  • Applicants must possess a Course Director (CD) Certification/Licensure from the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC), or be able to obtain.

  • Applicants must possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or be able to obtain.
